Born and raised in upstate New York, Courtney Acostagrates has provided Spanish interpretation services in the Portland metro area since 2006. As an undergraduate student of Anthropology, she had the opportunity to live and study in Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru, which allowed her to achieve native-level fluency in the Spanish language. 
Upon graduating magna cum laude from the University of Buffalo, she went on to study Spanish linguistics and literature at Portland State University before ultimately specializing in legal interpretation at the University of Arizona's National Center for Interpretation, and later received a postgraduate diploma in legal translation from El Instituto de Formación e Investigaciones Jurídicas de Michoacán, Mexico.
The breadth of her real world experience in tandem with considerable academic formation have allowed her an intimate familiarity with the diverse registers and dialects of Latin America Spanish and rendered her uniquely qualified for interpretation in the public, private, and legal sectors. 

In her free time she enjoys playing and coaching soccer, and spending time with her daughter, Maritza.
